Hello folks~

Could anyone advise what problem might be causing this?

-> Cuda error: Kernel [frc_sum_kernel_angle] failed in file 'force.cu' in line 298 : unspecified launch failure.

Could it be a random error? Cuz I'd hate to waste yet another WU...
Thanks a lot in advance.

"Unspecified launch failure" may be related to OC but looks more like a "random" error.

Thank you. I've backed off my O/C (extremely mildly I might add) to be on the safe side, but still kept the 185.81 nVidia beta drivers that I've been testing for a couple of days now...

My prime suspect are the beta drivers, though I'm trying to convince myself otherwise (random error) :-)
Will see in a hour or so, when another HIV WU (that errored out before), gets completed.

Wish me luck~

If your OC is just borderline it may take days or weeks until the next error.. which would appear as "semi-random".

Aha, figures :)

Btw, since we're already talking about O/C, anyone knows how to apply a pencil mod to 8800GTS 512 to get some more juice for the core? :))

Thanks for everything.

There are software methods available, but I'm not going to post links as I strongly advise not to increase GPU voltages for 24/7 crunching. Temperature kills chips, but voltage even more so.

GPU reliability under 24/7 load is already a big questionmark and we don't want participants to go out and kill their cards.

Some manufactors of cards like evga do run them themselfs 24/7 on projects so basically i would think these should do fine on these projects.
And they even told me that if fails running gpugrid i would receive a new one :D
And yes i agree on the Over voltage only with parts made for a certain voltage like some memory or special made parts ( like my DDR2 memory OCZ 4-4-4-12 at 2.1 volt ) its ok to run them at this settings.
But most of the time its very destructive for your parts.
In general overclocking shall make your parts run a shorter periode of time, thats the risk we like to take for a bit more performance.
And to be honest i get to see more and more products die just after the guarantee ends on them (about a year or 2 ) even without oc or higher volts.

I love roasting my hardware, so please PM me if you have any source for a pencil mod~.~ that could be applied to 8800GTS 512, reference model. {no hard mods, no bios flash suggestions}

I understand your reluctance to post directly here, {prevent miss-use and save us the whines}, but info such as this, could do miracles in a possession of a experienced user.

Thanks for understanding in advance.

the pencil mod is posted in about a million places (google) but the pencil mod is only for the mem and doesn't seem to help much even after a hardmod to the gpucore.
