Attach to the project and let it run ...

ALL of the GPU projects will take some portion of CPU time to load and unload the GPU and manage the system. No avoiding that.

If you are running one of the "better" versions of BOINC there is little overhead. My CPUs on the i7 are typically only seeing about 1% load on occasion.

FOR THE MOMENT, I still don't recommend any of the 6.6.x versions unless you are prepared to monitor the operation of BOINC and reset the debts as needed. My suggestion is still 6.5.0 as the "best" overall ...

6.6.20 has a really nasty bug where some tasks can take 2 to 4 times as long as need be. If you insist on moving to one of the later versions, 6.6.23 is about the best of the lot. 6.6.28 is still too new to know for sure if it is going to live up to the fix that it is supposed to be core to what it is doing.

FOR THE MOMENT, based on a couple hours testing, which is not enough to be sure, 6.6.28 may have fixed a long standing issue that plagued us for years and cost lots of work ... hard to know if it also as a side effect will have cured some other long standing isuses that I suspect might have been a side effect of the bug ...

Hope this helps...
