It should, since the card supports cuda. But with 16 SP's, it is kinda sloow.

well, i have options with the card....

Run Aqua on the slow card, as Aqua gives you lots of time to finish (4-6weeks)! Aqua runs many different types of work units and some do not utilise all of the GPU’s capabilities (a bit of a waste, especially faster cards).

If the GTX 260 is processing normally I'd just ignore that line.

yea, i could.... also, changing the settings in the nvidia control panel on physx settings make these messages change... and allows the cards to be used or not used.....

i could use some help on this.... It looks like a bug with BOINC. What version were you using? It should report each card as whatever it is. It won't however allow you to choose which card gets used for each project. A cut and paste of the top part of the log would be good, with the OS details, cuda device info, etc. I will raise a trak ticket for the developers. PM me if you like. ____________ BOINC blog

Regarding 2.5 instead of 3 GB RAM: that may very well be the joys of a 32 Bit OS. What amount of RAM is your system info showing? I bet it was about 3 GB before you put in the 9400 512MB.

i have 4 gb.... and now my computer is throwing bluescreen b/c the grpahics drivers are failing......

Physically you have 4GB, but under a 32 Bit OS you can't use all of them, depending on how much adress space your other divces need. It's a common topic, so searching should yield many results, if you want to know more.

for now, i have taken the 9400 gt, and put it in the oldest computer in the house and let it crunch seti....

Nice to hear it works now. oh, et, i know that 32bit only allows 3 gb of ram.... why in the hell do you think i want to when the lottery so i can buy 64 bit systems.... It's not 3 GB, it's 4 GB minus whatever your hardware needs. For example my system can use 3.5 of 4 GB with a 512 MB GPU. And you wouldn't need to buy a new windows for 64 Bit, you'd "only" need to reinstall. Retail Vista keys are valid for 32 and 64 Bit (not totally sure about OEM ones) so all you'd need would be a different DVD. Ms would send you one for a small charge (<10$) or otherwise any other source would be legal since you have a license. By the way: I was not implying you should switch your OS. It was just that you seemed unaware of this issue. MrS ____________ Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002

my vista only shows 3 gb or ram, even though 4 is on-board...... it's just the limits of 32-bit...

for now, i have taken the 9400 gt, and put it in the oldest computer in the house and let it crunch seti.... As you've noted BOINC doesn't handled mixed-GPU configurations very well. You can have multiple GPU's but its best if they are all of the same type in the same machine. Unfortunately until nvidia can get a 40nm chip out we are stuck with power hungry machines. Hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later, although they do have a couple of "green" cards that use less power than the standard model. ____________ BOINC blog

Unfortunately until nvidia can get a 40nm chip out we are stuck with power hungry machines. The new chips are going to be just as power hungry.. but they'll be faster for similar amounts of power ;) MrS ____________ Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002

I've removed the 9400 Gt but boinc still wants to use it, and gives this which is causing comp errors....

I see you have driver version 186.18, which I believe was reported to cause trouble. Try rolling back to 185.85 or 182.50.

it didn't cause trouble before i put the new card in... i'll try....

i don't know what is causing these errors.........seti cuda and aqua cuda run fine, it's something to do with the gpugrid side........ on my computer i think......

You're still using that driver, aren't you?

yes, i'm using 186.18.... i did a reinstall just to make sure.

seti runs fine, and so does aqua.... This doesn't tell us much except that your driver install isn't totally broken. They're using different code, so a bug in these drivers may be triggered by GPU-Grid but not by their apps. MrS ____________ Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002

same here i have a 9800gtx and a 8500gt oc(testing) and i was running gpugrid and seti cuda. and i was doing lot of crunching. till wu ran out . but on both sites it only shows the 9800gtx and in boinc it does the same

since gpu(cuda is still somewhat new to boinc...I think boinc still has fully integrated cuda/gpu's..... of different makes and models....

their is still a bug with boinc and mix cards . it still not fixed period

Rest assured that the BOINC Devs would dance a whole day if there was only a single bug left. BTW, are you referring to the "I have 2 different GPUs but only one is shown"? If both are crunching away I wouldn't mind what BOINc is showing.
