Message 10864 - Posted: 26 Jun 2009 | 10:48:40 UTC

since last friday I've got only 2 WUs for my 3GPUs and no more WUs for the stock...

GPUGRID Message from server: No work sent
GPUGRID Message from server: (reached per-CPU limit of 1 tasks)
GPUGRID Message from server: (Project has no jobs available)

Why? Till last friday each GPU got enough work...

Kind regards
Joe

Sounds like a change in the server settings. So far it was "max(number of CPUs, number of GPUs)", which might (accidently?) have changed to "max(number of CPUs)".

I have looked[probably not hard enough] but what would the queue count be for a dual core and 3 GPUs??

Will I be able to get adequate work for ALL GPUs??

I got the same problem. I want to switch from distributed.net to gpugrid. But it seems that here are problems too.

I use an Ubuntu 8.04 System with an AMD DualCore CPU and 1x GTX295 and 3x GTX260.
I am not interested in getting the CPU's work. But I am getting bored, if I am not able to get this beast fully busy on it's GPU's.

Or do I have to install a QuadCore for getting at least 4 GPU's working? - I hope not.

My account still says 15/WU per CPU/Day

Currently, I believe the # of concurrent outstanding WU's is the # of processors (physical or virtual) in your system. If you have a single core, you only get one; a dual, you only get two; a quad, you only get four; an "octo", you *only* get 8 WU's at the same time.

With an i7 and 4x 295's, there is never any queue of WU's since the # of gpu's is 8 and that is also the # of processors. I have 3 single-gpu cards, but I have a quad so I always have 1 in queue.

I think you would saturate the dual core with just the 295 alone, not even counting the 3x 260 (which would do 1 WU at a time). With those cards, I think you'd always have 1 gpu (of your 5) idle at all times. You'd have to have an i7 to fully utilize them.

That is the max # of WU's sent to your gpu's in a single day. So, if you have a single card that takes 12 hours to complete (like an 8800/9800), you would probably only ever use 2 or 3 of those 15.

If for some reason you install a bad graphics driver that errors out WU's immediately, that 15 setting is to prevent you from going through 100's of WU's before you realize you have a problem.

With the new server settings I get enough work for my 3 GPUs.

Kind regards

MrS

It is giving me number of CPUs + number of GPUs, so 5 wu's on a quad core with a single GPU.
