I know I've posted about this before, however, the issue went away for the last 4-5 months.

After upgrading to 190.38 I'm getting constant scheduler requests to get more work, every minute in fact. While I don't mind the internet traffic, it fills the Messages log in a few hours. It makes it nearly impossible to see any other messages without going in to the file log or doing a bunch of scrolling.

Also I bet that this is happening to others which puts a significant amount of unneeded traffic/load on on the GPUGrid servers.

Just my .02 on it :)

Thanks,

Jim

Edit: I'm on 6.6.36 x64 on WinXP x64 other goodies are here.

I suppose your 6.6.36 is requesting cpu work from GPU-Grid?

That was my initial thought. I changed my settings to NOT use CPU, only GPU. Here's an example:

29-Jul-2009 10:00:44 [GPUGRID] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
29-Jul-2009 10:00:44 [GPUGRID] Requesting new tasks for GPU
29-Jul-2009 10:00:49 [GPUGRID] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
29-Jul-2009 10:00:49 [GPUGRID] Message from server: No work sent
29-Jul-2009 10:00:49 [GPUGRID] Message from server: (reached limit of 4 GPU tasks)
29-Jul-2009 10:00:44 [GPUGRID] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
29-Jul-2009 10:01:49 [GPUGRID] Requesting new tasks for GPU

I'd try lowering the cache and/or GPU-Grid ressource share setting.

Good suggestion. Use to use resource shares in the hundreds, chopped off a 0 for each and the problem went away.

Must be something with BOINC's work fetch or scheduler.

Either way, thanks for solving this for me :) Been driving me nuts!

Jim
