This is just an informal inquiry on which window manager in Linux works the best for running Gpugrid.
In Suse, Sabayon and Ubuntu, the most stable window manager that I have used for running Gpugrid is IceWM. It is not as elegant but the lower GPU and CPU demands allow me to overclock my video card by a slightly hgher amount than other window managers.

KDE and Gnome are much more elegant but do consume more resources and require a more conservative overclock especially if Compiz-Fusion is enabled.

I did try plain OpenBox under Ubuntu which I liked quite a bit. It used less resources but the power management for my monitor did not work and X froze. IceWM used more resources but did not seem to have this problem.

In Ubuntu 9.04, the IceWM menu is created for you. In Suse or Sabayon, you have to install and run Menumaker to produce a usable menu.

JWM was interesting but for some reason running Evolution under it cause the Xserver to crash. This is probably and issue with my setup.

I have also used Fluxbox and Enlghtenment. Both worked but I have gravitated to IceWM partially because of familiarity.
What are other people's experiences with different Linux window managers?
