OK, it took awhile, and I'm not sure if what I did will work for anyone, but......

1.) Install the current 185.X driver from the Nvidia Repository thru YAST.
2.) Disable the Nvidia Repository so no updates will occur.
3.) Install the latest driver directly instead of from the Nvidia repository (currently 190.25) from the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.25-pkg2.run file. Install using "the hard way" instructions.

I'm now successfully crunching on Suse 11.1. Dunno if it's the 190.25 driver, or what I did listed above, that's making this work.

PS sax2 doesn't work now, but I changed my video setting thru the nvidia-settings command, and that works fine.

I'm also running BOINC 6.10.3, but it didn't run GPU Grid without the operations listed above (i.e. I couldn't get it to run with just the Nvidia Repository driver)

This is exactly my experience with Suse 11.1. You had to do a double install.
This did stop sax2 from working as well.
With the beta of Suse 11.2, just the Nvidia website driver install worked.
Sabayon 4.2 worked with the stock Nvidia drivers.
Ubuntu 9.04 needed the Nvidia website driver.
All installations were 64 bit.

Hi all,

NVIDIA posted new 190.32 beta drivers today.

If this does not help, I give Michael D.'s description a try.

Michael

PS: According to the release-notes fan speed adjustments can now be done via GUI (coolbits enabled)
