I'm running Windows 7 32-bit. I installed all 3 files recomended, and am running 2 projects, one on each GPU. But I notice that it says Running(0.12 CPUs + 1.00 NVIDIA GPUs (device 0)) It says the same thing for device 1. Is the "1.00" the compute capability? My card is an XFX 9800 GX2 with 1 Gig of memory. Are things right? I wouldn't think this card would run at the 1.0 level... How can I check that things are working properly and up to speed? I'm trying to find what this card is suppose to run at and can't find anywhere that it says 1.1, 1.2...

BOINC in theory will share fractional parts of the CPU and/or GPU ... though they don't have it working quite right yet ... BOINC can also run all cores on a single task if the task / application allows it though that too is not working right as of last reports (though fixes have been applied) though this only affects Aqua at this time. The place where the capability is displayed is in the messages tab at the top where and when you start BOINC ... it will list the capabilities of the CPU side and the GPU side. Though on MW you can have the appearance of running two or more tasks at the same time, they don't really, you are only running one but have three loaded ... if you have one task per GPU that is usually more stable and pretty much as fast as you are going to get ... you can shave a second or so with running more than one with forcing, but it only gets you a second or so gain. On GPU Grid, with the tasks taking hours, no real gains to be had ... Hope this answers the questions ...

Yes, it partially answers the question. I'm running 2 tasks, one on each GPU. It says in the preferences that I can use 100 CPU also. I believe you're telling me that isn't working properly. It is requesting work for the CPU, but but none is being sent, and my CPU is basically idle.

The compute capability, reported in the start of BOINC's messages tab tells you what the hardware is capable of. It will also tell you the cuda version nd driver version. The compute capability is what the hardware can do. The 9800GT/GX series are only capable of 1.1. The G200 chipped cards (GTX2xx) can do compute capability 1.3. As for the Fermi or G300 chip we don't know what they will offer, whenever they come out. ____________ BOINC blog
