I installed the full version of YDL found on the front page in hopes of getting away from the problems with the USB Build. Of course this did not help, in fact I now have completely different problems.

I installed YDL and BOINC about two days ago and everything worked well, I even submitted one WU! Today I shut down to do some gaming and upon restart the problems began.

1. BOINC does not start at boot, how do I make certain that in the future BOINC will start without my intervention?

2. After getting BOINC started BM shows PS3Grid running but CPU time does not advance and when I looked in TOP there was no process running and CPU usage was at 3% when it normally is pegged at 150-170%. Obviously I am doing something wrong here.

Could someone please point me in the right direction and remember that I now have a combined 3 days worth of experience with linux (read: zero experience).

Thanks!

...I have the same problems runnin a newer version of YDL (5.0.2).

After processing the first work unit, after a reboot, now boinc works more or less for 13 minutes and then the task goes in defunct/zombie.

No way to complete a single work unit anymore...

Anyone as some hints?

Thanks a lots...

I still do not know how to force BOINC to open at startup (not boot, just when the \"desktop\" comes into view). I basically go into the file system and physically start BOINC and all goes well.

On a side note. Every so often, especially when switching to YoYo from PS3GRID, the CPU usage for YoYo dives down to below the typical 150-170% as seen in TOP. It shows about 4-6 instances of YoYo running (but the same WU) and each has roughly 25 to 45% CPU. After switching back to PS3GRID CPU usage never goes above 99%. After reboot, PS3GRID starts and it is back to ~150%. The tricky part is, these WU for both projects remain in memory after the switch even though my preference is to take them out of memory after the switch. Something going on here?

Try to upgrade YDL from internet as I have done. There is an utility in \"System-Tools\". Aftere this BOINC should run correctly...
