Can I output the video of my PS3 to a computer monitor?

Yes, but you need to be careful on which type of computer monitor you own. Only the newest monitors supporting the HDCP protocol will work. HDCP encrypts the signals between the PS3 digital output and the monitor, if your monitor does not support HDCP you will simply see a blank screen. The PS3 only has a HDMI digital output. You should by a HDMI/DVI-D cable converter to plug it into a HDCP-compliant monitor that has a digital DVI input. Otherwise you can also use any LCD televisiton HD-READY and a standard HDMI cable.

There is also an analog output that uses composite and or a yellow rca connector.
You just have to make sure you choose the correct video resolution...

There is an alternative. I did some searching through the PS3 Gamer sites and found this converter....

I bought the \"X2VGA2\" from NEOYA (you need a Component cable (from Radio Shack)), and hooked my PS3 up to a standard 19\" LCD Monitor (Dell 1900FP LCD) Works great. It cost me around $80 (with shipping from China)....

The Component cable I am using, plugs into the \"AV MULTI OUT\" port on the PS3.
