The Windows version is just a minor modification, while for Linux we tried to change the synchronization of the kernels to see if it improves for certain users.

I activated beta testing in my preferences since I was one of several who posted a problem using app v 6.02 on a Linux platform in the News forum. Will report back if I receive a test app WU. Is this thread okay or do you ave a preferred thread for beta results?

Here is ok. To accept beta work, please go in

"Your account" -> "Gpugrid preferences" -> "Edit preferences"

and enable both "Run test applications" and "ACEMD beta"

Done. If Beta is available, I should get one within the next several hours as my in progress OTTO-HERG WU is nearing 50% complete.

Good! Let's wait for results from other machines for a comparison.

I turned on test apps, but I'm getting 6.70 and two 6.04

Basically 6.04 is pretty good except CPU usage, but that's OK. curious to get new test app :-)

What exactly is OK? Much CPU consuption is saying that something wrong in OS, BOINC, GPUGRID and GPU interaction... It is unnecessary (seems that it's only a bug), and should be dedicated to other DC projects... :-)

I meant - it's OK in terms of WU crunching speed :-) 4 hours instead of 6 hours on 6.70 app - not bad, right? :-) next step, I believe, should be fixing the "bug" with CPU usage

It's hard to believe that it will be fixed, 'cause it seems that crunching speed is achieved exactly by using CPU...

But let's see! God bless the developers! :-)

And to me it seems this is wrong ;)

(Combining low cpu usage and the increased crunching speed has been possible under windows. Besides, if one cpu core could provide such a speed up then using the GPU wouldn't be all that fast, now would it?)

Relating to the new apps. Any chance of putting the "using device x" message back into stderr output? It was there in the 6.7x apps but seems to have disappeared with the newer ones. It might help pinpoint problems when there are multiple gpus in a machine.
