My first post on GPUGrid forums and just a message to say how much I like this project. The project has a clear scientific purpose and objectives, makes genuine contributions to public domain knowledge and has a great track record of publications in reputable scientific journals. The atmosphere on the project forums is positive and Gianni and the volunteer admins are fantastically responsive. I'm impressed that it's not a 'set and forget' project and the development team constantly striving to innovate, roll out new tasks, accommodate new GPUs, fix errors, and explain what they are doing in a way participants can understand.

So much better than so many other BOINC projects, particularly GPU projects, where the science is weak and cobblestones appear to be the primary purpose.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.
The scientific team is very progressive, constantly improving their research methods. There are many crunchers in the forums that have excellent IT and GPU knowledge. They have helped many other crunchers many times, and the scientists, with good advice and suggestions.

Good Luck,

I love this project too. Mind you i do have a slower graphics card, but i like the face that the project seems to more innovative and results oriented then some of the others.

I really like this project because the project scientists are quite active in the forums. They listen to us crunchers whenever we have problems. I can't really say the same about some other BOINC projects like Rosetta@Home, unfortunately.

I crunch for Rosetta, Folding@home, and GPUGrid and GPUGrid is my favorite for the reasons mentioned. Good job grid guys! Rosetta gets some spare CPU cycles, Folding gets some work out of my ATI cards (and a pair of nVidia 9800GTs), and GPUGrid gets work out of my newer nVidia cards.

Another cool thing about GPUGrid is that it works great on Linux. In fact it seems to work FASTER on Linux than Windows 7 (or it was last time I knew).

I think it is totally cool that you can run a GPUGrid crunch box from a USB stick with no hard drive required at all.

Oh and hello everyone, I'm back after taking the Summer off. It was super hot this Summer and after one power bill north of $220 the crunch boxes got turned off. The following month the bill was about $90 less!

Great to hear, everyone! Being new to the team here at GPUGRID, I am glad to hear you guys are happy. We certainly strive to make you crunchers happy and make the specifics of what we are doing clear and accessible. It's not just important so that we can keep you crunchers happy, but also so that anyone interested can understand what we're doing and why it's important. And the fact that other crunchers help out so much on technical side is really appreciated, as we could not do it all alone. Whenever we have the time to put out new and better info, we will, so keep checking.
