Purchased a new PS3 yesterday and thought I would run Boinc on it.

I followed the instructions: downloaded the 250mb, unzipped it onto the 1GB Flash Drive, and I then told the PS3 to install other OS. All of that worked w/o error. I then told the PS3 to default to Other OS and shut down the machine. With the Flash Drive in the machine, I rebooted and got to the kboot prompt...It sat there for a few seconds but then rolled on. However shortly after that it started with:

ps3-ohci-driver sb_08:remove,state1
usb usb4:USB disconnect,address1
ps3-ohci-driver sb_08:usb bus 4 deregistered
ps3-ehci-driver sb_07:remove,state1
etc...
etc...
etc...

It continues and removes USB Bus 3, 2, then 1. Then it just sits there. No Flash Drive activity light, no keyboard input will work, no PS3 HD light, nothing. It just sits there like it does not know what to do next. Almost like it is in a endless loop or something?

I am running version 2.36 of the OS software....perhaps that is my issue? Is there any way to go \"back\" to version 2.10 (assuming 2.36 is my problem)?

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks.

As far as I know there\'s no way to roll back to an older OS version...

Unfortunately I can\'t help with the USB Pendrive Linux because I never used it... Why don\'t you install YDL?
If you don\'t want to install Yellow Dog Linux, you\'ll have to wait until about mid July for a new Pendrive Linux version... - See this post from GDF.

I went ahead and installed YDL6.

I have worked with Unix for 10 years at work, but I have yet to ever install any Linux OS at home. So needless to say doing it on a PS3 first was what I was mostly concerned about.
Instructions provided on the site here were flawless.

It is now running YDL6 and Boinc and seems to be doing ok. I\'ll know more in a few days, but so far so good.

Thanks again.

We will provide an updated version of the pendrive soon.
