Hello!

I have bought a new pc and after setting everything up I got it to work for the GPUGRID. My old PC that was already running this program sometime before two days ago got the message from server that I don't use an NVIDIA GPU. Anyway I'll paste the messages from BOING.

I would like to ask how can i fix this and if it's possible to have two pcs running with my account info or is it necessary to create a team (someone tell me how ) or to enter to an existing team.

ty in advance!

The 13th line in the log shows that it is BOINC itself that says you do not have a GPU after that there is no way the GPUGrid project can execute the tasks you had already downloaded.

20/2/2011 12:41:29 πμ No usable GPUs found

I suggest you go to nvidia.com and download the latest driver for your new graphics card. Once you have the new driver installed you will need to completely stop BOINC and start it again.

You already have three machines running under your account so it looks like you are already using the same email each time you connect a new PC to this project through BOINC Manager. You do not need to do anything else.

Thanks - Steve

I have tried all that. Moreover I uninstalled totaly BOINC app an reinstalled it and the messages are the same. i can focus my attention on a message saying: "20/2/2011 4:23:54 μμ GPUs have become unusable; disabling tasks". Allright now, what exactly is this? How come does it say such thing? How can I solve this?

It's usually occures when you connect to your computer via Microsoft's remote desktop. If this is your case, you should use a different remote control software. (e.g. RealVNC, UltraVNC, LogMeIn, TeamViewer etc.)
BOINC does not recognize the GPU when it's installed in protected application execution mode (running as a system service).

Something happened to your BOINC client on 18-feb-2001 16:45 (GMT, UTC), because a previously nicely running GPUGrid task failed at that moment, and cannot recognise your GPU anymore:

Something bad happens. (My guess is that you've created an app_info.xml file, or made some setting, which is confusing the GPUGrid client)

Whatever setting you've made at that moment, you should take it back. GPUGrid still thinks your PC has 3 GPUs while I guess it still has only 1. Your tasks are failing, so your client gets backlisted and does not receive tasks for a while.

The only thing I did was to add another pc with two GeForce GTX 480 (this why BOINC sees 3 GPUs). The second PC you are mentioning was a running test with the "fat dog linux" this forum provides so it was the same pc with the first (that is the one with GTS 450 GPU). That is why I'm asking if I have to create a team and how can I do that.

How exactly have you done it? If you add another PC to the GPUGrid project, the new one should not interfere with previous PCs.

(this why BOINC sees 3 GPUs).

No, you are worng. A task running on a (new) pc won't see the GPUs in a different PC. For example I have two PCs added to the GPUGrid project (each have two GPUs), when you look at my tasks here and here you can see that every task lists only the GPUs present in their hosts PC, not all of my GPUs.
By the way I can see your old PC is running fine.

You don't have to create a team. The only thing you have to do is download the actual BOINC client to your new pc, install it, and when it asks whether you are a new participant or a returning one you have to choose you are a retuning participant, and type your e-mail address and (BOINC) password.

I added the new pc from projects-->attaching to a project--->existing user. But the problem is that aside from removing the monitor, keyboard and mice from old pc I haven't done anything else. Do you think that the use of remote connections can create this problem? I am asking this why the oly chance for me to check if old pc is working is by vnc. If the problem persists can i use vnc programs with fatdog linux? If yes, which ones are you suggesting?

But the problem is that aside from removing the monitor....
It could be the problem try to use a dummy plug.

I used a dummy plug and re-installed latest drivers from NVIDIA. Dettached from project, clesed BOINC, restarted BOINC attached again to project. The problem persists!

At this stage you are right to try another operating system.
