Please update to the client version 6.3.8 if you are crunching on GPUs.

What are the changes or improvements?

Is there anything we should watch out for?

1) It reports the name of the GPU on the client messages.
2) It is ready to support multiple GPUs (We have to test it yet).
3) It fixes a bug which was wrongly setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. (From the first runs with the new client, it did not seem to fix the libcudart.so not found problem of some machines though, but let's test some more days).

OK thanks GDF.

I installed over the top of the existing client on one box and it's running just fine. I saw the GPU name report in the messages tab was new, so that's ok. I've not had any "libcudart.so not found" errors since the first two days, so I doubt I will see anything there.

Will be interested in multiple GPU capability, but my hardware doesn't support it..........yet ;)

This libcudart.so problem is very strange. Do you remember if you did change something between the first two days and now? Because we did not!!!

thanks,

It happened after every two WU's on one box, when the client went to open a new WU. That box was my first install on this project with a new installation of Ubuntu. I had a lot of problems installing the drivers (mainly becasue it was late and I was tired). Maybe that had a impact, or maybe my fiddling broke something.

All I did was to cleanly install the nvidia drivers and the problem seemed to stop. On the second box, I made a 100% clean install of the OS and clean install of the drivers using Envy and had no libcudart.so errors. The third box is on test right now using a slow 8600GT (yes I know it's no recommended, but bear with me.) This third box will complete the first WU overnight, but now errors yet.

All three boxes upgraded to v6.3.8 and running happy.

/off topic/
The reason for the old card is to test an old slow box. It has a 3GHz P4 HT with EMT64. So I was interested in how it performs on GPU grid compared to other projects. It seems sweet and happy, so a new 8800GT will go in soon and transform what was a clunky old cruncher to a sleek racing machine! ;)
