I would like to participate in the beta test of the GPU client on my Nvidia 8600GTS. I just upgraded my Nvidia drivers to a CUDA version, and then went to get a copy of BOINC 6.3.8. However, the main Berkeley site or even thru the "...\download_all.php" link no longer provides a copy of anything higher than 6.2.16 (or .18).

Since I'm running Vista Ultimate (32 bit), I need a copy for Windows. The link here only shows the Linux version...

Can I get a good pointer?

Thanks,

Mark
(Note that I'm a long time BOINC'er, and did run YD Linux on my PS3 for awhile, but am now just running Folding@Home on my PS3)

They are in the process of builing a newer version, should be ready soon, although I cannot tell you what soon means. They pull the old version when a new build is about to be built.

Some bug fixes in the scheduling including multiple GPUs. At this stage, it is convenient that you upgrade often, as changes are often important.

What's new from 6.3.8?

I know of
Fix startup so boinc runs up to max cpu's (per setting). It has only been running 1 GPU task and then some time later will start another on the CPU. - Verified fixed. out of 5 tests this morning, boinc ran 2 tasks as it should at startup each time.

Fix multile GPU use. I can't test this, but someone else will, see other thread about multiple GPU's.

Fix something with RPC's, since 6.3.8 came out, communication between BOINC and BOINCview has been malfunctining, BOINCview looses contact with the boinc client and sometimes does/sometimes does not log enteries. BOINCview still works with older versions fine. This is NOT fixed, but maybe the fix was not put in in time to make the 6.3.9 biuld. I'm checking on that.

There probably were other fixes or inmprovements, These are only the ones I was working on.

For the Boincview problem (if it still exists), I had it set like this.

Leave the Interval for data updates check at what ever you have it set to.
Mine is set to every 60 seconds, and set the Interval when off-line to 1 second

Boincview still looses contact every normal refresh, but the off-line refresh makes it see the 6.3.x again.
It still is abit annoying with it loosing the connection for that 1 second.
However at least that way it logs the results.

Also in Boincview program preferences, make sure Remember state of off-line computers is un-ticked, as having that ticked caused problems for me.

The fix for this should be in 6.3.10 when released, The build of 6.3.9 was already underway when the fix was checked in.

All mine are now logging results. I found BV would not log to an empty directory. I had to stick a file in there and name it as a log for yesterday and then it began to log results for today.
