Hi,

does anybody know:

1. If i own a 9800 GX2 with 2 Processors, can my PC cruch 2 WU's at the same time?

2. In a system with two graphic cards, will then the PC crunch 2 (or 4 s.a.) WU's at the same time?

1. Yes it should be able to crunch 2 WUs at the same time, but as of now the application also needs one CPU core. But that will change in the near future...

2. Yes with two cards with two GPUs it should be able to crunch 4 WUs, but only if yo have a quad core processor and the cards are not configured as SLI.

No, you have to connect 2 monitors in Vista.

A solution is to have a KVM.

I saw this in the cuda forum.

- To use multiple GPUs, under Vista each additional GPU must have a desktop extended onto it. This means for now Tesla is not available under Vista, only GeForce and Quadro cards. XP will still work fine on Tesla C870 and D870.

I do not have VISTA, but someone with may be able to figure this out and get 2 GPUs working.

A kind of switch which lets you use one monitor / input setup for multiple PCs and which could be abused to use one monitor for multiple graphics cards in the same PC.

KVM - Keyboard Video Mouse - as Aps was saying, it allows you to have one of each of the devices hooked into a piece of hardware that then has cables going to 2 or more computers. You can then switch between the computers but pressing a button or using a key combo on the keyboard.

No, you need the BOINC manager 6.3.x, most are using the 6.3.8 under Linux.

And you'd be better off getting the NVidia 177.67 drivers from here

Or update the whole Ubuntu to the upcoming Intrepid release, it will be released this month anyway, so its already pretty stable. I'm doing it this way since I participate in this project and never had a problem with the developement release ;-)

Since 2 gfx cards have to run seperatly from each other, ya can in theory have a motherboard that dont support sli, but have 3pci x slots and 3 cards running ? aslong as u have a quad to supply all the gfxcards ?

Setting up a new Pc, going to run it as a router, and need 2gbit NICs, and cant find many cheap 1s with sli support, thats why I wonder if 2 or 3 pci-x are enough..

Be careful, PCI-X (server stuff) is something different than PCI-Express / PCIe!

Regarding your question: I would say "it should work" .. but software can be a delicate issue in such special cases as using several GPUs, so my unverified statement is not worth much ;)
