Is there a reasonable MB available that will work with these CPUs?

Here is one of several Boinc/Seti Threads on this topic https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=81587

I have ordered (and been happy with) a "turnkey" (just add HDD, DVD drive, OS and BOINC) from these people http://natex.us/systems/workstation/

You can setup "combo" searches on ebay. Here is a dual e502670 v1 MB & cpu's http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-S2600CP-Motherboard-combo-with-Intel-Xeon-2x-E5-2620-Processors-/112516649792?hash=item1a3283d340:g:91sAAOSwPHNZiomK

It showed up under this search https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=e5-2670+combo

My experience, so far, with GpuGrid is all the processing has been on Nvidia GPU's which you can run on much smaller motherboard combinations. But if you are interested in lots of cpu-based computation this is certainly one solution.

This project benefits from extremely fast single thread performance, even a dual core would suffice perfectly fine. I have a 6700k @ 4.5ghz that I disabled 2 cores to save power and even with SWAN_SYNC on it only uses 25% of my CPU with only 2 cores. Since this project bounces many operations off the CPU before being able to calculate them on the GPU, a system with more cores at a lower frequency is actually detrimental to performance, which in my opinion is bollocks. Hopefully the next application they decide to use will be multithreaded.
