After reading another thread I changed my cpu% from 100 to 75 percent utilization. The system is not used for anything other then the boinc farm. There is clearly some cpu power left over. boingmgr shows 1.644 Gflops for the gpugrid task and 2.526 Gflops for each of the other 3 tasks. The 2.526 value is 1.00 of cpu efficiency and the 1.644 is shown to be 0.65 (boincview)

The vista resource manager cpu utilization plots used to be a straight line at %100 percent for all 4 tasks with only a rare drop, but now they show the system is running at %90 or less.

The quad cpu I have runs at 2.667 (Q6700) and I wonder if that is fast enough that I dont have to dedicate an entire cpu to the gpugrid project?

..thanks..

ps: I moved my Nvidia 9800gtx+ from an AMD64 platform to the Intel one as I had consistent gpu initiailization problems and was going thru my daily WU quota every other day. This loss of WU's need to be fixed in another release.

The current GPU-Grid client uses less a full core (on linux a few % are sufficient), that's why the default is now 4+1 instead of 3+1, like you are running now. Some people have huge performance losses on the GPU due to running 4+1, but judging by your times you're not one of them. So by running 4+1 you may loose 1-2% of GPU-speed but gain a few 100 credits / day on the cpu.
