I just bought an Asus ENGTX260. I installed it in one of my regular Boinc crunchers as a way to get more out of my dedicated crunchers. I installed the Asus drivers with everything working normal, shut down Boinc and installed the 6.3.21 version. After starting the computer and attaching to this project work was downloaded and it started crunching on it. After a couple of minutes the system rebooted and there was an error message that said that the Driver had caused a problem. I uninstalled the driver and followed the link here to get the recommended driver. I installed it with a error message about a command line problem. after rebooting the resolution had a max of 800*600 and only 4 bit color. Since this is a dedicated cruncher this is not a problem, but when I checked Boinc messages, it said there was no CUDA driver available. I uninstalled this driver and installed the latest from Asus with the same results. This is an Abit S series mainboard with a Q6700, 2gb ram, 600w powersupply and Win XP. Can anybody tell me what is going on? | |

after rebooting the resolution had a max of 800*600 and only 4 bit color... That's normal when no vid driver is installed. I'd say reboot your machine (just to be safe), maybe take back any OCs, shut down BOINC and then install 178.24.. and see what you get. Overheating is not an issue. The whole rig isn't even mounted in a case and it's been crunching other Boinc projects for over a month. I reset the Bios to default settings, installed the latest nForce drivers, rebooted and got several "Windows has recovered from a serious problem" messages. I then installed the recommended driver with the same results. On Friday when I go back to work, I'm going to do a complete fresh instal of Win XP and see what happens. | |
