Hi,
I got a 3 Way PCIe x16 ( x16, x8, x4 ) MoBo by Gigabyte and all the latest nV Driver and Boinc 6.6.11.
The Problem is that i just can use 2 Cards of the 3 installed. How can i switch to get all 3 crunching?

Which of the two computers listed is the one with the problem?

One is running Vista, the other beta 7 ...

The Vista one with a Q9450.
I think now it's a driver issue, because it let me choose only one Card for PhysX Acceleration.
The Maincard ( GTX285 ) accelerate anyway, i just can switch between 9800GTX+ and 8800GTS, both G92 Chip's.

Make sure you do not have SLI enabled. If you enable SLI, the system sees those cards as joined as one device. Unfortunately, CUDA does not recognize SLI yet, so I have to do the same thing... enable SLI for games, but disable when running BOINC GPU projects. Bummer, but until nVidia updates CUDA for SLI, that's the fix.

You can look on the messages tab when you first start BOINC. It will list the CUDA devices it sees. You'll see this change when you change the SLI setting in the nVidia Control Panel.

Also, be sure you exit BOINC manager before making the change, including stopping the science apps too. Then, disable SLI in the Control Panel and then restart BOINC so it can detect them again.

If you don't have SLI enabled, I don't know what else to check if it doesn't see all the devices.

Of course, make sure you have the latest nVidia drivers as well.

I seem to remember reading somewhere on these boards that with 64-bit Vista one needed to both extend the desktop across cards and (sometimes) actually plug a monitor into each card (at least to be initially recognized), though I may be confusing this with another OS???

To get BOINC to recognize both my cards, I had to hook up a monitor to each and span the display, then it would work. After doing that I could disconnect one of the monitors..

I have noticed when playing with BIOS settings, or doing multiple restarts, I have to reconnect both monitors and span the display so they both work again.

hi,
i do installe the FW 182.08 x64 Driver yesterday.
I do restart the Boinc client, but the problem seems to be the Driver, because it just let me choose one PhysX-Card for acceleration.
I've i disable PhysX, just the Maincard is ready to the Boinc client, the other to are idle.
I thing the driver is the reason, but how works the Tesla Computer, what driver to use fore?
I have no problem to run two Graphiccards by Boinc, but i want to have all three crunching.
I do also download a Cuda Toolkit, but i have no idea how and if it helps in this situation.

Have you tried to hook up a display to each card?

I could only get the two cards working with displays attached.

I also disabled physx on all the cards. So that is good.

Try and hook up a monitor to each card, enable them all in your Nvidia control panel, and then restart BOINC, see if that helps..

I only have a single monitor plugged into the first port of the primary card, and that has worked fine for me. Vista 64 and BOINC have all recognized and used all of my cards.

Be sure the single monitor is on the first port, and on the first primary card in your system. That will depend on your particular motherboard. In my MB manual, it tells me very specifically that you have to use particular slots to get maximum performance, and it also tells me which would be the primary in each configuration (in other words, board 0). My board has six PCIe x16 slots on it, but for best performance and optimization, and depending on whether I use 1, 2 or 3 boards, will determine where I should install them. For example, in my system, it says when using 2 video boards, to put them in slots 1 and 5 which is not what I would have guessed, but that will be different for each particular MB. They would work in any slot, but performance and available configs will vary. Your MB manual should tell you the best setup for your particular board as it will vary from one manufacturer or model to another. BIOS setting, of course, could greatly change things too. What the board reports to Windows is what will determine your monitor behavior, but no matter how many video boards you have installed, you should never need to have more than a single monitor, nor have to move it from one port to another, if you have your system set up correctly, as least not as far as Vista is concerned. Now, if the MB itself does something weird, that's a different story.

Also, SLI and PhysX are not the same thing. On my machine, I always leave PhysX enabled. It's SLI that CUDA requires you to disable if you want each card used. They are different settings in the nVidia control panel. Also, remember to completely shut down BOINC and the science apps too when changing the SLI settings, or BOINC won't see that change. It only checks when starting up.

thx a lot to everybody who try help out.
The Maincard ( GTX285 ) is connectet to the only full PCIe x16 Slot, this Card also connectet to the Monitor.
The second Card ( 9800GTX+ ) connectet to the second PCIe x16 ( real 8Lines ).
The third Card ( 8800GTS512 ) is connectet to the third PCIe x16 ( real 4Lines ).
All Card's are indicated, the 8800GTS also show a god performance in the smallest x16 Slot with only 4Lines.
I just have no idea, wuy the System/Driver dont give me all three Cards, every Case only 2 of them?!?
The Motherboard is configured well, otherwise i dont have access to all three Card's anyway.
All Cards are disposed to run, everyone connectet 100% and able to crunch.
I am really out of Idea's. -_-

You will never get those cards to support SLI together. SLI requires that all connected cards be the same GPU type.

But you should be able to use all 3 as individual CUDA devices I think. The messages tab in BOINC will tell you what CUDA devices it sees when you first start BOINC. I don't know...

No need since the newer driver's.
Boinc works proper with two cards.
Why other's have more than 2 cards running in one system, whats wrong here?

Well, did you try if it [extended desktop] helps with your 3rd card?

Otherwise.. something is obviously wrong with your setup, but we can't tell you what it is. The only thing we can offer you are suggestions, and it's up to you to try them out. Your system is behaving unusually, so unusual suggestions may help.

........ I have three cards running in one system under Vista64. Only works for me if I can make Vista believe that a monitor is on each card and the desktop has been extended across all three monitors.

You may need to temporarily connect multiple monitors to get Boinc to see them on startup for crunching - in the Boinc Mgr messages tab the available devices will be listed. I have a KVM switch shared with another system that allows me to do this - I have previously also connected the HDTV connections together on cards (using the RGB adaptors supplied with your card & some phono cable) - this also does the trick, but you may have to make a choice about whether you like this approach & want to leave the connection in place - this arrangement has the benefit, at least for me, that it survives a restart.

Thx to you, this sounds kind of unhandy. ;)
Which driver you use?

Try connecting a monitor to one card - choose your preferred one re performance need for standard use/games etc, and with the remaining cards setting them to different outputs, ie card2 to DVI, and card3 to VGA (SLI disabled)
