Hello All,

I have recently installed the above captioned build, along with Nvidia driver 181.71 (windows 7 beta driver) for my GTX 260 Core 216 GPU. I have tried installing the driver several times and rebooted numerous times including shutting down and unplugging for several minutes then rebooting. When BOINC client 6.6.17 restarts I get a message saying no cuda devices detected.

Any ideas on what else I can try to get my cuda device crunching GPUGrid work under W7?

Thanks in advance.
Neil

I also had problems using the Windows 7 Nvidia driver from windows update, but I am using the 7000 version of win 7. Think I was using Boinc 6.5.0. too.

The easy solution, for me, was to download the latest driver for Windows Vista 64-bit and install that. During the installation the NVidia splash screen labels it 'Windows 7 NVIDIA Driver install', or something, so it obviously recognises it just fine. I think it's the 181.20 driver.

Let us know how you get on.

Mark

This may be wrong, but my understanding is that for F@H only 185.20 works with Win7. Drivers below that cause issues/errors. Not sure about the "Un"official drivers above that. May be the same for GpuGrid....don't know.

I am using 185.26 vista 64. I have a copy of 7057, but I haven't installed it yet...or any other Win7 for that matter, so I am going by what I've read.

I can confirm that 185.20 works on Windows 7 build 7000 for both a 9500GT and 9800GT.

Did you remember not to install as a service?

Bingo!

Thanks ET. You hit the nail on the head. I needed to run BOINC under user account not a daemon. I remember this point from a few months ago but had forgotten that you can't run as a daemon under Vista yet.

My cuda capable card has been recognized and GPUGRID has now downloaded work.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

What driver are you using? Still the 181.71?

Cool, Thanx. Contrary to somethings that I've read, so please let us know if that driver starts causing issues/errors....could be that others are just pushing their OCs a bit too hard....
