I would like to use for GPUGrid only the GPU, and the CPU for other projects. IS there any way to do it?

Thanks

Um, yea. Attach to the project. GPUgrid only uses the GPU, it has no CPU workunits available even if you wanted them.

Unless I completely missed some aspect of your question ...

Your always going to use a small percent CPU time to give the GPU instructions but its really minor. The other projects are happy to use the CPU at the same. GPUGrid gives only GPU tasks so shouldn't get in the way of your other projects. For example my system is currently running 8 ABC@home Wu's and 4 GPUGrid Wu's at the same time.

Yeah I have same problem. I also run PrimeGrid and when i run GPUGRID it's slower almost 4 times.

Paul

The four you have already completed (nice completion times) were run on the GPU, GPUGRID can only run on a GPU. If you also attach to another Project (that only needs CPU WUs) in the normal way so that the cpu is used at the same time as the GPU is used for GPUGRID, it will have no real world effect on the GPUGRID WUs and they will crunch away happily at the same time. The crunching of GPUGRID WUs will have no effect on your new cpu based project, they will all co-exist very happily.

The miniscule ammount of cpu cycles needed to assist a GPU task has no real world effect on the another Project's cpu based WU. However only plan to run one Project on a GPU, else they will fight each other for time & space to run as currently you cant run two gpu based apps at the same time on the same GPU - much the same as its not a good idea to run two cpu based WUs at the same time (albeit in the latter case its theoreticaly possible).

I am now running CPDN (hadam3p models) on two cores, SETI (Astropulse WUs) on the other two cores on my Phenom2 (O/C to 3.2GHz), and GRIDGRID exclusively on the 9800GTX+ (O/C 778/1930/1100X2), after a recent rejig of what I do on what. All run very happily at expected speeds, no issues. GPU runs at 64 degrees, cpu running at 52 degrees

Under linux the cpu usage of the current client is much higher, so it doesn't work as well with cpu-projects as the windows client. And to make matters worse: you've got a single core CPU, which doesn't have many ressources left, if most of one core is occupied by GPU-Grid.
