The i7 machines are probably the best performers by accident as it were. The i7 MB are usually higher end and those that are willing to spend the money on an i7 are likely to also spend money on the GPU side. For example I now have 3 i7 systems and all three have two GPU cards. All but one of my GPUs are GTX2xx cards with my "best" system having a pair of GTX295 cards. | |

In one of my i7 Boxes I have two GTX295 cards giving me 4 in work tasks at a time. SLI has to be off. Be sure to have enough cooling and power. | |
