Just finished the upload of this WU,using Boinc 6.10.17 Win7 x64.
GPUGrid set to NNT. Looks like No New Tasks means no longer attached to the project & you don't get credit?
http://www.gpugrid.net/result.php?resultid=1483427
This task was previously in my queue, but got killed when BOINC did an update to GPU Grid:
11/11/2009 7:24:02 PM GPUGRID Message from server: Result 163-GIANNI_DOP1I-15-50-RND7449_0 is no longer usable.

It still looks like GPUGrid interprets No New Tasks as a client detach.
I'm using Boinc 6.10.18.
Any currently running tasks will continue uselessly. You won't catch it until you check your tasks on GPUGrid.

I have regularly set "No New Tasks" and then forced an update without GPUGrid saying that I was "detached".
Can someone else give this a try and let us know how their system is behaving?
____________
Thanks - Steve |

I tested it and did not get the detached status message either.
tnmjr99a, perhaps you actually detached from the project, or reset project?
If not then perhaps the situation has to be such that a finished task is reported only after the you select no new tasks (I cant replicate that any time soon, I am hours away from finishing a task).
Do you have any non-standard Boinc settings such as restricted network usage, which could prevent your system from not contacting the server for a time period, after which the server would determine that the client computer is no longer attached to the project?
A firewall or AV suite could also cause this if not configured correctly.

I also tested reporting a finished task after selecting No New Tasks. I did not see Client Detached in this situation either.
Perhaps the reported issue only arises when communication with the server has not happened for some time, or the task has been removed from a list of running tasks on the server. |

1)Do you think it could be a problem with BAM, the BOINC manager?
2)The last time it happened was definitely after NNT.
3)The computer does not run 24/7. But there are no network restrictions in my settings when the computer does run.
4)I did a GPUGrid project reset after the last detach to see if that will fix it. Once my latest task completes & I get a new one, I will try a NNT shortly after it starts so I won't lose too much time computing, should the reset be ineffective.
4)Thanks for looking into this. Now that it looks like something on my side of the world, I will keep a close eye on the situation. If there are any debug flags to be set in the BOINC config, let me know which ones they are.

It could well be to do with BAM settings.
Are you using No New Tasks avoid downloading new tasks before you finish the task you are running?
If so there is an alternative method:
Open Boinc Manager in Advanced View,
Under the Network Usage Tab,
Click Advanced, Preferences,
Set the Additional Work Buffer to 0.00
Boinc will not download any new GPUGRID tasks until the existing one has completed (in theory at least). It might however download a new task before a finished task has uploaded if new work is prioritised by Boinc (Upload rates are typically less than download rates too).
Connect about every should also be set to 0.00 under these conditions. |

Yes. I am using NNT to avoid downloading before I finish the current task.
Maybe the problem went away after I reset the project.
I NNT'd, then updated, and my task list still shows "In Progress"
2/21/2010 4:33:43 PM GPUGRID work fetch suspended by user
2/21/2010 4:34:21 PM GPUGRID update requested by user
2/21/2010 4:34:25 PM GPUGRID Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
2/21/2010 4:34:25 PM GPUGRID Not reporting or requesting tasks
2/21/2010 4:34:30 PM GPUGRID Scheduler request completed
886751 1187757 21 Feb 2010 20:32:45 UTC 26 Feb 2010 20:32:45 UTC In progress
I didn't use BAM to update this time.
After this task completes, I'll see what happens on my next one when I NNT using BAM. |

It looks like doing a 'reset project' fixed the problem.
Doing a NNT manually or using BAM no longer results in a detach. |
