I have let GPUGRID in Boinc use 100% of my GPU even when not idle (Geforce 9800 GT)

So far I have let it run for a strait 12 Hours but the elapsed time says only 41 min !!!!

What is going on? does it only measure CPU time? (If so my Credit is going to suck with even my Ton of work)

I wouldn't look at the elapsed time. What's the % done? About 50% or so after 12 hours would make sense on that 9800GT, depending on OC'ing and the type of WU.

Is credit given on Time or Size of Work?

Elapsed time, in the 6.10.18 client, is just that. If it's been running for about 12 hours, it should show 12 hours. The CPU time will be much, much less, of course, but the elapsed time should be up there where you expect it to be.

Something sounds borked here.

There's a separate setting for computing allowed "while computer is in use" and also for "Use GPU while computer is in use" in the BOINC client preferences. Make sure both of those are checked, otherwise the GPUGRID task won't run while you're using the computer.

If you are using your computer to watch video your card will struggle and tasks might fail, so if you are watching video (even online video content) I would suggest you use the Snooze feature.

That sounds more like the CPU time than the elapsed time -- from where, exactly, are you getting that value?

72.1% after 13 hours puts you to finish right about 18 hours. I have two 8800GT's and some tasks will take about 18 hours to finish (while other longer ones take closer to 24 hours). I'd say everything appears to be running fine.

The cpu usage (which you can check with task manager) should only be 2% or so (max) at any given time for the "acemd" tasks.

Basic View, just found that Advanced View has the correct time. They need to make the basic view show total time because projects like this just use the GPU.

Specs:
2.2Ghz Amd Phenom X4
EVGA Geforce 9800GT
4 GB Ram

I let my computer run this using the GPU 100% whenever I'm on. Am I any help to this project?

Assuming your computer is on enough to meet the 5-day deadline (which would be about 20% of the time with GPU usage at 100% for your 9800GT), you will be completing tasks for the project.

You will get a bonus for completing the tasks with 48 hours, but a completed task within the deadline helps the project as well. By no means a fast card compared to those out now, but certainly capable with the project (even though they are not on the recommended list).

Anyone know how much of a bonus it is? (Finished under 48 hours)

Points are based on the work done, not on how long it takes to do it.
The bonus is +35%.

Thanks - Steve

Coby, in the next few weeks a GPUGrid application will be available that will improve NVidia card performance. This should allow you and many others to finish tasks much faster. So your contribution will increase. For those just finishing in time, you should then start to see more bonus points.

That sounds great!

(I'm letting the Tasks use 100% of the GPU while im on and on average finishes in 18Hours, quicker would be great. (if bonus is for finishing under 48 hours i've got a bonus every time) so I am fully dedicated to this project, and a CPU project also )
