I have many tasks ending with errors, while others do fine. I don't see a pattern in the errors, and at a loss to know what is wrong. I also crunch for SETI which also uses GPU and have no errors with SETI tasks.
Any help will be appreciated.

Having received no answer to my persistant problem of "error while computing", I am setting GPUGRID to "no new tasks".

Some 9000 series cards just seem prone to errors,
http://www.gpugrid.net/results.php?hostid=44450

You would probably be better of with the 197.45 driver, running the 6.12app; its faster for that card.

PS. Try for your sig, without the spaces,

Thank you for your suggestion, but the 197.45 driver is for XP, and I have Vista, and it would not install. There are hundreds of drivers, and I am not able to find the correct one. Also, I'm not sure what you mean about the signature, should I make my name one word?

The 197.45 driver works on XP, Vista, and Win7.
Select no new tasks and finish any running GPUGrid tasks.
Download the 197.45 driver.
Uninstall your present driver and restart in safe mode (F8).
Install the 197.45 driver.
Restart.
Allow new tasks for GPUGrid and you will start to get tasks for the 6.12 application.

If you want to use your signiture,
This is your signiture --> http://www.boincstats.com/signature/user_1621874.gif
Put it inside brackets [img] [/img]

For example,

but without the space after

The 197.45 driver works on XP, Vista, and Win7.

But the XP version is a different download from the Win7-Vista version.

NVidia has a very simple download page at http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us that will help anyone get exactly the right file. Choose the entry that matches your computer in each section, taking care to match it exactly - 'M' series cards for notebooks are different from standard cards for desktops: Windows Vista 32-bit is different from Windows Vista 64-bit, for example. Once you have made all the choices, you'll be taken to exactly the right download file.

Here is my setup:

1/26/2011 7:03:56 PM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 9800 GT (driver version 19562, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.1, 1024MB, 308 GFLOPS peak)

Is this correct?

Yes, the 19562 driver you now have is allowing you to use the 6.12app to crunch tasks. This should be faster for your card.

Good luck,

Thanks very much. I see that before I was getting 6.13 apps. With my limited experience with this, I don't know the difference!

Oops... I got two 6.12 apps, one failed.
What else can I try?
Thanks,

Expect failures to happen when using a 9800GT. They will happen no matter what app you use, but at least the 6.12app is faster for that card.

I really think this is a GPUGRID issue as I have 7 out of 8 failed WU on my computer running on a GTX 470 SC. I checked some of the failed WU and a few have failed on 4 other systems. I have never had a failed WU in another project that wasn't self induced(messing with settings/drivers) with project running. My last WU completed so I'll try another to see what happens. Hopefully they have things sorted out by now.

I'm not sure I agree that your failures are a GPUGrid issue. All except 1 of your failed WUs have been sucessfully completed by other people. I noticed that you had your shaders turned up pretty high on the failed WUs and on the 1 WU you did finish you had them turned back down again.
