Since the end of May I've been keeping an EXCEL log of GPUGrid WUs run on my modest GTX 660 (I'm retired so have time for such frivolities!)

Today, Sunday, brought unexpected heavy rain so I decided to analyse the data I had.

First, the completed WUs by project:

Clearly, Nathan has been on a roll, with Noelia and Santi way behind!

Second, the credits:

Nathan wins again, but not by much. The "shorts" don't contribute much to credit even though they take ~50% of "Long" run time. I've blocked them in preferences but they continue to appear.

Third, what about ALL WUs, including "error" WUs?:

Santi pops up as the winner, but not by much... I've had lots of Noelia errors in this time period.

Interesting, thanks for sharing!

So far as your issue with blocking Short-run tasks, are you sure you have the "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" option set to "No"? Though, if GPUGrid is your only GPU project, it'd probably be best to leave it to "Yes" to keep the GPU busy, in times where the Long queue is empty.

Regarding the stats, I would be quite curious to see the results that happen when 8.14 moves to the Long-run queue. Then, the NOELIA tasks should hopefully run much more smoothly, and I bet you get the most credits from those tasks... maybe.

It's set to YES 'cause I also run POEM.

What's 8.14?

If you have it set to yes, ticked on, than you will get short runs as longs runs are not available. So that explains way you get them sometimes.

What's 8.14?

8.14 is the latest ACEMD app that Matt has built. It is optimized and with a lesser error rate. It is now in the beta queue.

That setting is a GPUGrid project setting. It refers to the GPUGrid applications, not any other project's applications. So, if you for sure do not ever want certain GPUGrid applications, you have to select NO there. It will not affect your POEM work/settings (POEM has it's own POEM project settings, at their website). I still recommend leaving it to YES, to make sure the GPU is kept busy, in times where the Long-run queue is empty.

What's 8.14?

8.14 is a new version of the GPUGrid application that drastically reduces suspend/resume errors and is more robust. It's being used by the Beta application, and I also believe it has been deployed to the Short-run application. You can see the version number in BOINC, on the task list, if you go all the way to the right, and look at the "Application" column.
