Question: What are the long term prospects for this project? I am considering purchasing another PS3, but I want to make sure that

1) There will be enough work to keep them both busy

and

2) The project will be around.

So...what is the timeline for this project? The forecasted workload?

Thanks!

I would answer yes to both questions. It would be good if you can convince a friend of yours to join if he already owns a PS3. It\'s cheaper.

We have been investing a considerable amount of time on ps3grid because we believe that it is going to be very useful for the scientific community. I am confident that it will be around for long. With time we will start to use different hardware unless the PS3 keeps upgrading the Cell processor in future years. IBM plans new versions with 32 SPEs and 1 Tflops of performance.

Work will keep growing but slowly until we are ready with the software. We have several idea in mind which we are developing.

Thanks for the response! I originally read this when you posted, but just now realized I never replied.
