Check out my crunch times. You can see they have ballooned way up from the normal 87k seconds to 120k seconds. This started happening since I attached another project that also uses SPEs, and have the resource set to 50/50. Something is wrong, as crunch times shouldn\'t increase.

With Cell you cannot share the SPEs. So, while one is running the other is just waiting but consuming CPU time. The next version of our application will simply stop and return an error when the 6 SPEs are not free.

you should manually give 100% to one or another project until BOINC is adapted for these sort of things.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying. BOINC does not try to run two tasks at the same time. While one runs, the other tasks are suspended, either to RAM or HD. Then the scheduler switches them back and forth as needed to meet the resource share (and deadlines). At any given time, only one task is running.

Hello,
as zombie stated, at any given time only one project is running, the second one is suspended and should not consume any resources. Also CPU time should not continue. Maybe the PS3 Boinc version makes it wrong. A possibility to test would be to disable the project option \"keep in memory while suspended\".

I created a School profile, identical, except for \"keep in memory while suspended\" set to \"no\". My PS3 is set to that as of now. Everything remains as is, with 50/50, PS3GRID/yoyo.

Edit: When I went to my PS3 to force an update (to get School), I see that crunch time is now 45 hours, and the % complete is not moving. In any case, I did nothing else, and School is now in place.

Suspending to ram or HD does not release the SPEs. So, when the second application starts it finds all the SPEs busy.
If there is an option to stop the application entirely, this it may work. However, if it works, you are wasting some time between checkpoints every time it switches.

I see. So the only way to share a PS3 between projects is to run 100% on project A for a week (or whatever), and then run 100% on project B for a week. And then repeat.

Are there any plans for the BOINC project to fix this, so that a PS3 can be shared?

mmmm

I am running both projects too. And I can share CPU time between projects. PS3GRID crunch time is not affected.

You can see my results here:

I\'ve configured a 200 share for PS3GRId and a 100 share for yoyo.

What is your setting for \"Leave applications in memory while suspended? \"?
